Kurbaan - Shukran Allah

Kurbaan_Poster-187x300[1]_401385554977210_1.jpg
Music Directors: Salim Merchant-Sulaiman Merchant
Lyricist: Irfan Siddiqui, Niranjan Iyengar
Singers: Sukhwinder Singh, Kailash Kher, Marianne D'Cruz Aiman, Salim Merchant, Vishal Dadlani, Sonu Nigam, Shruti Pathak and Shreya Ghoshal

Arguably the hottest couple in the Mumbai film industry today is Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. We have seen them together on screen a few times, including in commercials but right from the beginning, 'Kurbaan' had its own kind of wicked promise. Directed by Rensil D'Silva and produced under the Dharma Productions banner controversies seem to have worked well for the film's publicity. No sooner had Shiv Sainiks objected to Kareena's bare back posters for the film, an individual filed a petition at the Bombay High Court seeking a stay on the film's release on the ground of two objectionable songs. The stay was declined and the film hit the theatres, as scheduled, on 20th November.

'Kurbaan' may very well be ascribed as a high point in the careers of music director duo Salim and Sulaiman. There are five originals and one remix in the album.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (APKGK) is a film both fresh in character and appearance. While the pairing of Ranbir Kapoor and the charismatic Katrina Kaif comes with the promise of newness for the audience, the music of course, does not fall far behind with its own share of novelty with each song having something unique to offer. The composer-lyricist duo of Pritam and Irshad Kamil has done a good job and the variety of the album is apparent in the long list of singers involved in the project.

The album has a rocking start with 'Main Tera Dhadkan Teri'. Already a chart buster, the song has been sung by KK, Sunidhi Chauhan and Hard Kaur. DJ Suketu has done a very good job at the remix making it one of the best numbers in the album. The song makes an impact right at the outset, and helps in augmenting Pritam's credibility and talent as a composer. 'Follow Me' – a solo version of the same song by Hard Kaur is a seductive number and has a good appeal.

The next song is a romantic number: 'Tu Jaane Na' sung by Atif Aslam. The lyrics are good and the tune is a treat to the ears.

Wake up Sid - music for the story

Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Konkona Sensharma
Music Directors: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy
Lyricist: Javed Akhtar
Singers: Shankar Mahadevan, Kavita Seth, Amitabh Bhattacharya, Clinton Cerejo and Uday Benegal

If you have watched the visual promos of “Wake up Sid”, even without listening to the songs, you will have an idea about what kind of music to expect from the movie. It is an out-and-out 'cool' picture – smart and totally urbane. Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy had created magic with three characters who had refused to grow up in 'Dil Chahta Hai' and it is to be seen whether magic is created yet again with Siddarth aka Sid Mehra.

Sid's character will also remind you of Karan in 'Lakshya' – honest, confused and unambitious. Blending in with the world of Sid, the songs in “Wake up Sid” are carefree and a wee bit indolent. The soundtrack consists of six songs of which one is a remix. Thoroughbred Hindi film fans may feel the lack of a typical love song but it is our opinion that the relationships in this movie evolve a little differently.
