Tum Mile - a love story first
Cast: Emraan Hashmi, Soha Ali Khan, Sachin Khedekar and RJ Mantra Director: Kunal Deshmukh Music: Pritam
Natural calamities have often been used in films, as in other forms of art, as a pertinent metaphor for emotional turmoils. True, we do not have too many examples to site from Indian popular Cinema in which a passion drama has been woven around the central theme of natural disaster. We have seen depiction of famine and floods in so called 'parallel' cinema and sometimes it has been a major thread in mainstream movies too. However, we are yet to witness something akin to say 'Twister', 'Dante's Peak' or 'The Day after tomorrow' where emotions will evolve through the unfurling of drama in Nature. 'Tum Mile' had promised to deliver in this line and it did come closer to the theme than other movies but ultimately it remained just another hindi romance in an experimental backdrop.
'Tum Mile' focusses on the fateful July day in 2005, 26th precisely, when Mumbai was literally devastated by continuous torrential rainfall.

Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani - Ajab Ghazab
Star Cast : Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Upen Patel Director :Rajkumar Santoshi Music: Pritam
'Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani' (APGK) had all the promises of being a runaway success with youngsters and the romantic at heart. And so it definitely is. It is an added boon that APGK is not just another teen movie that tries out the stock-in-trade with a new pair. Agreed, there are several cliches of romantic comedy that a director of Rajkumar Santoshi's calibre could perhaps have avoided, but it is also a fact that love has its own share of cliches that novelty can never replace. Ranbir Kapoor had made his debut in 'Sawariyan', stole hearts in 'Bachna aye Haasino', woke up as Sid and finally arrived with 'Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani'. This is not saying that he has given a flawless performance. But he has certainly acquired the art of making people indulgent towards his flaws.
Rajkumar Santoshi had given us the superlatively entertaining 'Andaz Apna Apna' almost fifteen years back. APGK is a balance of both romance and comedy and is not like any of Santoshi's previous ventures apart from where his brilliance is concerned.

London Dreams - Of friendship and music
Cast: Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Asin Thottumkal, Om Puri, Brinda Parekh, Rannvijay Singh, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Manoj Pahwa
Director: Vipul Shah
Music Director: Shankar Ehsaan Loy
'London Dreams' weaves a musical drama around the eternal plot of jealousy and love involving two friends against the backdrop of music, rock bands and concerts. The film is said to be inspired from Milos Forman's 'Amadeus' (1984), which was based on Salieri and Mozart's life. As you can understand from the storyline, the film has tremendous scope for taking the viewer on an emotional roller-coaster ride, which the director Vipul Shah utilizes to the full. As it is, exploring different shades of human emotions has always been his forte, and friendship is a theme with many nuances.
The first half of 'London Dreams' is a bit stretched and serves more as a build-up to the more gripping second half in which the real drama unfurls. It is evident that in a story of clashing interests the characters of the two friends in most cases are contrasted to each other.
