India - Australia ODI series 2009 - taking stock

At this moment India is trailing by one match in the seven-match series after the neck-to-neck finish, in Vadodara on Sunday. Incidentally, India has played Australia in 97 One-Day Internationals since 1980, winning 32 times, while Australia has won in 57 matches. Eight one-dayers failed to yield any result. In the 37 ODIs in which India has played host, the scale is more balanced at 19-14 in favour of Australia. This happens to be the fifth ODI series on Indian soil after '84, '86, '01 and '07. A lot is at stake for both the teams with Australia struggling under injuries and a general lack of form and India trying to put an end to their unreliable performance in one-day cricket.

It is important to give a little bit of statistics so as to put current happenings in the right perspective. The series may be in its early stage, but with six more matches to go in about a fortnight, strategies have to be decided pretty quickly. Australians in this series are missing Michael Clarke, Brad Haddin and Nathan Bracken and the latest injuries to other key players have only added to their difficulties.

Bodybuilding tips for beginners

There have been different phases in fitness consciousness that drives the youth to queue up in gyms and fitness studios. The bulk-building fad gradually gave way to body sculpting and the era of six-pack abs. The way Hrithik Roshan has been losing weight (for 'Kites' it is said), we may assume that the look for the season is going to be lean and mean. Before you are led astray any further, let me warn you that this article is not for those that are fad-oriented and just plain trend followers. Bodybuilding is a discipline first and foremost and a discipline all over. So if your interest in exercising is triggered purely by the kind of headband you are going to wear at the gym, please do not venture into this territory. It requires a lot of dedication if you want to get properly inducted into the regulation.

A few guidelines for beginners in competitive bodybuilding– (we assume that you are under the supervision of a qualified trainer. It is not only impossible but also potentially dangerous to try things on your own)

· Firstly, try to figure out what your goal is.

Suresh Raina's fight with 61 runs went down the drain with New Zealand cricketers offering an unbeatable performance. However it is worth mentioning that teen sensation Ishant Sharma took the wicket of left-handed Jesse Ryder (1) in his first ball of his first over.
